"Hiring a barista" usually means hiring the whole setup
Most people searching for a barista for hire don't actually want a person on their own — they want the coffee handled. A barista without a machine, a grinder, good beans and a bar to work behind can't do much for you. So that's what we bring: La Marzocco espresso machines, Mahlkönig grinders, freshly ground specialty beans, milks and syrups, cups, and the bar itself.
The exception is when you already have the equipment. Plenty of Houston offices own a decent machine that nobody is trained on. We'll staff your counter and run it as a working specialty café for the day — no cart in your lobby needed.
The baristas themselves
This is the part our reviews are actually about. We have 987 Google reviews at a 5.0 rating, and most of them name a barista — Poppy, Marissa, Ashanti, Fiona, Camryn. People don't remember a vendor; they remember the person who made them a lavender latte and had a real conversation with them. We train for the drink and hire for the temperament, because at your event our barista is representing you as much as us.
How many you need
One barista makes roughly 60–75 handcrafted drinks an hour. That's the number that decides everything else. A 150-guest reception over two hours needs one bar with two baristas; a 1,000-person conference needs several bars. We work backwards from your headcount and service window and put the staffing in the quote, so the line never becomes your problem on the day.
And the logistics come with them
Certificates of insurance, building access, power requirements, load-in windows, setup and breakdown — our operations team owns all of it. Most of what goes wrong at an event goes wrong at load-in, which is exactly why we'd rather handle it than explain it.

Reviews
Most of these name the barista
I hired Brightside to come to a client's office for a morning and the team did absolutely incredible. Marissa the barista did a phenomenal job — we never had a long line because she worked so quickly and she's so personable with the clients. Izrael and Miguel also did such a great job with setup and breakdown in a timely and professional manner. The icing on the cake was they didn't only help me logo brand the coffee itself but the cart came branded, which was not expected and truly amazing. Made the event pop. Will use them every time I'm in Houston moving forward.

Fiona & Francisco were at Houston Methodist awhile back, and they went above and beyond helping select the best coffee ingredients making an amazing drink and even better experience with Brightside coffee bar. Their engagement and conversation was just an added bonus to a five star experience!!

Thi & Camryn were amazing! They are so sweet and so quick to make our drinks. I had an iced lavender latte which was so good. I love that my company used Brightside for our event!

Poppy was amazing at a wedding event. My favorite drink was the caramel latte. I'm still thinking about it. This drink beats all the coffee places out there. She was also very kind and engaging with the guests.

Poppy made us amazing lattes! We had the caramel and matcha latte (with honey lavender) and it was a great way to add some pep to a great wedding ceremony. Highly recommend.

Questions
Hiring a barista, answered straight
How much does it cost to hire a barista in Houston?
Barista hire is priced per bar, per hour — not per barista and not per cup — because a barista on their own isn't much use without the machine, the grinder, the ingredients and the cups. What moves the number is guest count, how long you need service, and how many baristas it takes to keep the line short. Send us your date and headcount and we'll come back with a real figure.
How many baristas do I need for my event?
One barista comfortably makes about 60–75 handcrafted drinks an hour. A 150-guest wedding reception over two hours is handled by one bar with two baristas. Above roughly 250 guests we'd usually add a second bar. We size the team for you when we quote, so nobody stands in a line.
Do you bring the espresso machine, or do I need to supply one?
We bring everything — La Marzocco espresso machines, Mahlkönig grinders, freshly ground beans, milks, syrups, cups and the bar itself. All we need from you is floor space of roughly eight feet and dedicated 20-amp power. If your venue can't supply power, tell us early and we'll plan around it.
Can I hire just a barista if I already have a coffee setup?
Yes. If you have a counter, a pantry or an existing machine, we can staff it and run it as a working specialty café for the day. Offices with a good machine and nobody trained on it are the most common version of this.
Are your baristas insured and can you provide a COI?
Yes. Most Houston venues and office buildings require a certificate of insurance, and we issue one as part of the booking process. Send us the building's requirements and we'll handle it with them directly.
How far in advance should I book a barista?
Two to three months is comfortable for a Saturday in wedding season or the December corporate stretch. We do fill last-minute dates when a crew is free, so it's always worth asking.
